It was the first edition and we couldn’t miss it. And the desire was so great that we have swept the I Contest of Ecological Wines of the Valencian Community, organized by Proava and by the Committee of Ecological Agriculture of the Valencian Community (CAECV). Of the 15 awards awarded, 6 come to Requena, home, including the Grand Prize, which has gone to Bercial Blanco Selección, cataloged as the best wine of the 99 tasted from a total of 27 wineries. What an honor! The truth is that this wine is one of the most complex that we make, an unusual white, with 3 months of aging in French oak barrels, made with the Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Macabeo varieties from selected plots.

In addition, we have received three gold medals, one of them for the unbeatable Pasión de Bobal, in the matured red category, another for Pasión de Bobal rosé in the category of rosés and the third for Pasión de Moscatel, in the category of whites. young boys. All of them are monovarietal wines, in the case of red, with grapes from old vineyards over 60 years old.

The two remaining medals were silver and went to Mariluna White, a wine with a very special blend of Verdejo and Macabeo; and for Bercial Ladera Los Cantos, a parcel wine made with Bobal and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 18 months in first-use French oak barrels.

We have won awards in all categories, so it is to be very happy. Those who have participated in the tasting panel have been recognized tasters and experts from the wine sector of the Valencian Community, the Canary Islands, Venezuela and Madrid. The selection process has been through a blind tasting.
